BOSTON RENEWABLES SUPPORTS CASTLE HILL TO BECOME NET-ZERO BY 2030
Boston Renewables is proud to be a part of the Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust’s project to achieve net-zero by 2030.
The Hull University Teaching Hospital’s Trust is now well underway with its plan to achieve an ambitious target of becoming net-zero by 2030 – ten years ahead of the NHS’s current target of 2040. As well as the installation of 11,000 solar arrays, the trust vows to replace 20,000 lights with LED bulbs, cut energy use by 15%, and send no waste to landfill by 2025.
Over the course of six months, Boston Renewables installed 11,000 solar arrays on the Castle Hill site in Cottingham. Once connected to the grid, the site will generate a total of 4,258,000 kWh annually and will be capable of producing enough renewable energy to power the entire hospital. The solar farm is due for completion in early 2022 and will be a huge step for the trust in their target to become net-zero by 2030 – ten years ahead of the NHS’s current target of 2040.
Managing Director John Hudson said, “Boston Renewables has been very proud to work on behalf of the Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust in the delivery of such a prestigious development.”
In March 2022, COP26 President, Alok Sharma, visited the site and learn more about the benefits it will have not just for the hospital, but also for the Humber region.
