The Sangwin Group is a 5th generation family run business based in Hull. The company’s core activities are in construction, civil engineering and plant hire and the company operates throughout the UK.
Challenge
Educational Furniture manufacture has been a more recent diversification for The Sangwin Group and it was this business that was required to improve its green credentials and improve energy efficiency. A biomass heating system, fuelled by offcut timber from the furniture manufacturing process had already been installed and as the site was too constrained for wind generation Solar PV became the next logical choice.
Solution
A 50kW solar pv array was installed on the roof of the furniture manufacturing unit in Feb 2013. The array produces over 44,000kwh of green electricity every year and this saves nearly 24 tonnes of carbon dioxide from being emitted into the atmosphere.
